The Round 11 AFL Sydney Rising Star nominee is Ben Polley of Western Suburbs.
Before conception Ben Polley was always going to be a Western Suburbs AFL player - the name Polley is a famous name in the history of Wests Aussie Rules club.
Grandfather Bob has been a long time supporter of the club.
His dad Warwick and Uncle Dave who grew up in a house that backs on to Wagener Oval, have held many roles from players to coaches and committee members.
His brother Jarryd also plays in the Senior side.
Ben is one of the most promising young players at Wests. He had a distinguished junior career including representative selections and a number of best and fairest awards.
Ben is also the captain of the under 18s team and also won the clubs under 18s best and fairest last year. His form in the 18s this season had been outstanding leading up to his season debut in the seniors against Manly in round 10.
His performance in that game gave the coaching staff no option but to select him for the round 11 clash against UTS.
In a game played in difficult conditions against a physical side like UTS, Ben had an outstanding game to appear in the best players for the Magpies.
Ben will continue to play a mix of under 18s games and first grade games this season. His competitive nature and hardness at the footy will mean that whatever grade he plays in he will be the one that his coaches and teammates can count on.
He is an apprentice locksmith and with his attitude and work ethic he will continue to open more doors in his footy career.
Ben Polley is a worthy Rising Star nominee.
