This weeks McDonald's Mini Legend Award went to Tiarna Jericho from the Toowoomba East Stingers who played her first ever game of football on Saturday. It wasn't her rawness which caught our attention however, it was her dogged determination and desire to get better which won her the Round 11 nomination.
Tiarna gave hockey the flick for one week to join her older siblings who already play the sport. Even when facing a 3 on 1 contest against much more experienced bodies she never gave up. Adding to this, her respect for the coach was second to none, showcasing her desire to improve.
Tiarna loved the tackling aspect of football and said her favourite team was the Gold Coast SUNS.
Over the remaining 7 rounds of the AFLDDJ season, AFL Queensland staff will be recognising players who display the best acts of sportsmanship along with mateship and inclusion both on and off the field.
Players will be recognised in front of their peers at the conclusion of matches by AFL Queensland staff and be rewarded with a certificate from the Junior major sponsor McDonald's Toowoomba Region Restaraunts.
Look out for Webby, Jeffro or Davo, who could be at your ground this weekend awarding the McDonald's Mini Legend Award to you!
