Geelong's reign over Port Melbourne continued on Saturday with an 85-point drubbing at Simonds Stadium, as Justin Cooper reports.
The John Baird-led Borough jumped out of the blocks in the grand final replay with the first three goals. But the Cats were quick to respond and eventually got going with four consecutive majors to lead by 12 points at quarter time.
The visitors again started well, kicking two of the first three in the second term, before the Cats went on a rampage.
The hosts booted the last seven goals of the half to take an impressive 52-point advantage into the main break.
Without key forward Shane Kersten, the Cats were forced to find other avenues to goal and did so through the efforts of Jack Hollmer and Brad Hartman.
The pair bagged three goals each in the first half to ensure the reigning premiers were well in control at the long change.
A much tighter third term saw the home side kick three goals to two, but by three-quarter time the Cats still held a commanding 61-point buffer.
The Cats overpowered the tiring Borough in the final quarter, slamming through six majors before a couple late Port goals stopped the margin blowing out to a 100-point plus defeat.
Defender Mitch Brown was among the best for Geelong, holding Dean Galea goalless in a great performance, while AFL-listed pair Josh Caddy (24 disposals) and Josh Walker (11 disposals, 7 marks, 10 hitouts), along with the Mark Corrigan (23 disposals) and Andrew Banjanin (37 hitouts) were instrumental in the win.
On a sore and sorry day for Port Melbourne, Chris Cain (2 goals) and Josh Scipione (2 goals) were their only multiple goal kickers as others battled manfully.
Port will look to bounce back when they travel to Victoria Park to tackle Collingwood on round 12, while the victorious Cats take on the Coburg Tigers away on Sunday.
