UNIVERSITY delivered Scott Sowerby the perfect gift to celebrate his 400th senior AFL Darling Downs game on Saturday with a 14.16 (100) to 6.5 (41) win over South Toowoomba.
Sowerby fittingly kicked the last goal of the game as the Cougars mauled the out-of-form Bombers.
Souths were up by a goal at the first change but they ran out of legs as the match wore on, kicking just 2.3 to Uni's 11.14 for the rest of the game.
It was the sixth straight victory for the Cougars while Souths have now lost two on the trot.
In the weekend's other matches, Coolaroo stretched its unbeaten run to nine games with a 28.17 (185) to 4.2 (26) victory over Warwick.
The contest was all but over after the first quarter as the Roos raced out to a 39-point lead from which Warwick couldn't recover.
Phil Dreise (seven goals) and Miels Grice (nine) were superb in the Coolaroo forward line.
The Toowoomba Tigers continued their mid-season surge up the ladder with a 17.21 (123) to 3.1 (19) victory over Lockyer Valley.
The Demons have been out of action for the past three weeks due to a lack of players but they shocked the inaccurate Tigers to trail by just seven at the first change.
But the three-time premiers lifted in the second quarter and kept Lockyer Valley scoreless after halftime.
Goondiwindi also made a move up the ladder with a 36.22 (238) to 2.6 (18) win over Chinchilla.
David O'Toole (nine) and Brenton Jardine (eight) led the way as the Hawks leapfrogged Warwick into fifth place.
And Zac Chimes inspired Highfields to its second win of the season against South Burnett.
Chimes kicked eight majors as the Lions held out a spirited Saints outfit 18.13 (121) to 16.16 (112).
