Central Australian Basketball League (CABL) club Forestville Eagles have signed Australian Boomer and Adelaide 36er star guard, Adam Gibson, to play with club for the second half of the CABL season.

Adam Gibson is an Olympic athlete and NBL Championship winner (with South Dragons in 2008-09) and he will begin his second season as an Adelaide 36er this year. This will be the first time he will play in the CABL and he is expected to debut this Saturday against the Central Districts Lions at Star Plex. At this stage Gibson has signed with Forestville for 2013 only and has no plans in place to play CABL in 2014.

Forestville Men’s coach Andrew Simons is thrilled with the surprise recruit he said “He (Gibson) had indicated that he might have had an appetite to play locally about a month ago but wasn’t sure and so we kept on liaising with each other and he finally decided this week that it was something he would like to do and we are obviously over the moon that he decided to do it with us”.

Coach Simon’s said he expected Gibson to have a significant impact at the club and within the team “The biggest thing will be his experience, leadership and smarts, he is a very smart basketballer, I am very impressed with his basketball IQ”.

“Apart from his basketball ability he brings all of the intangible (qualities) that you would hope to have in a player as well, a great work rate, intensity, intelligence and perspective. The (playing) group are rapt to have a player of his stature come and join us and we feel very privileged to have him join Forestville”
