Hi Paul,
What a night we had! The Qantas Socceroos are off to Brazil for the FIFA World Cup after beating Iraq. And we couldn’t have done it without you.
Our strength came from knowing we had the nation behind us. The 80,000 strong sold out crowd in Sydney and the 43,000 in Melbourne gave us amazing support. There’s no greater thrill than having a stadium full of green and gold cheering and chanting for your team.
To every other supporter, whether you watched the game on TV, sent us your well wishes or came to see us at our public appearances, you played a vital role in helping us qualify. You gave us a reason to strive so hard for victory.
As captain, I can tell you the players feel a great pride and responsibility when we pull on the Australian jersey. This journey is not just about us, it's for all Australians. Now we get to take on the best in the world on the biggest stage.
But for now let’s celebrate and savour this historic moment together.
