JUNIOR BASKETBALLERS TO STRUT THEIR STUFF ON PIONEERS HOME GAME NIGHTS
Tonight sees the first of the Primary Schools basketball games to precede the Pioneers on home game nights.
These games represent the second stage of the Schools Program of taking basketball to the community being undertaken by the Pioneers in partnership with Basketball Mount Gambier. Pioneers players are currently conducting 90 minute basketball sessions with Primary School children throughout the district. The Program lists around 22 sessions to be run during Term 2 and the early weeks of Term3. The aims of the sessions are to introduce and promote the game of basketball through basic skill activities and fun games.
There have been many positive and complimentary comments received from staff and children of participating schools. The Pioneers’ players and the program are very popular with the participants.
Tonight Mulga Street Primary School plays Tenison Woods College. The teams will suit up in their respective school playing uniforms and each team will have a Pioneer player as a mentor coach.
The Game commences at 6.20pm and will be umpired by Basketball Mount Gambier Junior Referees, Lachlan Hunter and Kurt Rodis.
After the game the players will be guests of the Pioneers for pizzas and drinks in the Canteen Complex before the main game.
The players will then accompany the Pioneers’ players for the official introductions prior to tip-off for the SEABL game, Pioneers v Hobart.
