Round 4 of AFL Darling Downs Women's League will be in action from Roddies Oval this Sunday 16th June, as Warwick and Lockyer Valley look to stop the undefeated South Toowoomba women.
South Toowoomba are the dominate side of the inaugural Women's league and will be looking to extend their undefeated run.
Round 4, Game 1 - Warwick V Lockyer Valley
Warwick will play the Demons in Game 1 of Round 4 fixtures and no doubt both sides will be looking to bank the 4 premiership points in this encounter. The Redbacks Montana Fidge and Kasper Hicks will be the players to watch as the Redback’s will rely heavily on these two skilful young ladies.
Kylie Edmondstone has been a stand out for the Demons in her short 4 game career and has created a dynamic combination with young star Sharni Aquili. Ball movement will be the key and whichever side can move the footy the quickest and most efficient will bag the 4 premiership points.
Round 4, Game 2 - Lockyer Valley V South Toowoomba
The question will be how to stop the Bombers? South Toowoomba have a number of star players but the key to their victories haven't been their Queensland representatives but in Co-Captain Anne Carroll and Jessica Harvey. Carroll is a strong marking key position player and Harvey a hard running, in and under mid-fielder.
The Demons will need to create as many stoppages as possible to stop the free-flowing style footy the Bombers like to play. If Lockyer Valley can do this, then they can bank on the 4 premiership points.
Round 4, Game 3 - Warwick V South Toowoomba
Much like Game 2, Warwick will need to create as many stoppages as possible and create a stop start game if they are to take the 4 points off the Bombers Women.
Fidge and Hicks will be looking for more support from their Reddies team-mates while Harvey and Carroll will be looking for the run off half-back to create headaches for the Warwick coaching staff. An interesting game, that if the right game plan is implemented then Warwick can stop the South Toowoomba juggernaut.
