AFL Sydney have named their representative captains for the Interleague fixtures this weekend.
Twenty-six year old Matthew Carey (pictured left with long-serving Demons club member Ian Parker) will captain the Senior Representative Squad for the first time on Saturday.
Carey has been in prodigious touch this season for Pennant Hills with fifteen goals in eight games as a half-forward. He has a raking left boot and more importantly, his leadership skills have been recognised by Rhys McAlister and his coaching staff.
Carey also represented NSW/ACT in the Australian Country Football Championships last year, as well as the Senior representative squad against the VAFA.
Carey will be supported by vice-captain Max Collett. Collett (27), although still in the prime of his career has been a mainstay of representative sides in recent years and like Carey, was a member of the NSW/ACT squad.
The Devleopment Representative Squad will be led by another Demon in Matthew Thomas.
Thomas, 22, has been impressive during the training sessions and has been identified as a clean ball user by coach, Chris Hughes.
He returned to the Demons after a year with Ainslie in the NEAFL.
The vice-captain is Blake Guthrie from the St George Dragons. Guthrie is a future captain of the side and has been one of the most improved midfielders in the AFL Sydney competition this year. He plays bigger than his frame suggests and will be a vital member of the Development squad this weekend.
