RISING Aussie rules talent Lachie Dignan says he's loving the added pressure that comes with playing in the NEAFL.
The 18-year-old has played three games for the Brisbane Lions reserves so far this season and was a standout in last weekend's come-from-behind victory over Southport.
Dignan was one of the best young footballers on the Darling Downs last season and decided to make the move to Brisbane after captaining the Under-18 Crows to an unbeaten SEQ Central Conference premiership.
He said NEAFL level was almost a completely different game compared to his time with the Crows.
"You can't compare anything between the two competitions," Dignan said.
"It's so much faster and the skills have to be spot on especially in defence. You can't give your opponent any room at all.
"I had a pretty good game (against Southport). I played at half-back flank ... but I've still got a lot of things to work on.
"It's definitely a lot faster but now I've played a few games I'm starting to get the hang of it."
Playing for the Lions reserves is a week-to-week proposition for Dignan and he spends most of his time training and playing with Morningside in the TIS Cup.
But with Morningside unbeaten in that competition, Dignan was hopeful he could maintain his excellent form and earn a few more chances at the next level.
"I haven't had a moment where I haven't enjoyed it. Morningside is a great club," he said.
"I've had a pretty good start. My body is feeling well and I just want to keep improving and hopefully have a good year."
