Three boys from Mackay and one from the Whitsundays were named in the Honorary Queensland Country Under-15 Schoolboys team after they played in the state championships in Dalby recently.
Mackay boys Bailey Manuel-Isaacs, Braden DeAnglis and Wes Johnson were selected after playing with the Capricornia team. Whitsunday player Eli Gunder was also picked for the honorary team.
They may not have any more games to play at this level, but being chosen was good enough.
"It's the furthest I've ever been with my footy," Johnson said.
The Capricornia team won a game against Darling Downs but lost their other three matches.
However, it didn't get them down.
"It was probably one of the best experiences I've had with footy," Johnson said. "Everyone there was just so orientated around winning and it was a really good trip with the boys."
DeAnglis said they played some hard games, but it was "a learning experience".
Being picked in the honorary team was even better.
"I was pretty happy, pretty excited," he said.
