Tournament Coaching Course A Success - SIBF

The Solomon Islands Basketball Federation (SIBF) successfully completed its Tournament Coaching course over the weekend with positive response from all participants.

Organized and conducted by David Topue and Debbie Sade, the Tournament Coaching Course is the first ever to be delivered in the country, and is part of the mutual agreement between SIBF and FIBA OCEANIA for the two conductors to disseminate the information to all local coaches, after receiving the same training in Australia last year.

SIBF President Brian Pongotapu, who was present throughout the entire coruse durations congratulated David and Debbie, and encouraged them to hold another similar course in the next quarter, as more participants are expected to join.

“This is a great opportunity for our local coaches who now have the basic fundamental skills in preparing their teams for tournaments”, Pongotapu said.

“We want to utilize these skills in the coming Solomon National Games in July, and hopefully some of these coaches and assistant coaches here can apply what they have learnt during the Games”.

The course ran for two days, and was also witnessed by the visiting Oceania Zone Development Manager, Annie La Fluer during her visit to the Solomon Islands last week
