Last weekend saw the North Shore U18s have a scheduled bye, but not wanting to waste the opportunity they decided on doing something a little different.
Coach Jamie 'Durie' O'Dell heard through the grapevine that the Uniting Church Neutral Bay (49 Yeo St, Neutral Bay) was having a working bee in their community garden and decided it would be worthwhile to get involved and provide some extra labour to the cause.
A bright 8am start saw all players turn up in their club uniforms. Bobby Babin (United Church Garden Manager) put them straight to work. The players and coaches all got into the spirit of the morning, digging, raking, planting, mulching, and weeding as they went about helping out Bobby and his team in the gardens.
The boys were a credit to the Club, dutifully applying themselves to the required tasks without complaint.
They were thanked and kindly given some morning tea after the work was done and you could see a satisfied grin shared on all the boys faces.
Well done to Jamie, John and the players for getting out into the community and giving something back.
