The rematch of two power clubs of 2012 faded into a one sided percentage fest for the Bulldog machine.
The Roosters travelled with 14 players out of the side that fought to the end the week prior, and were a shadow of themselves, a very bad week to be less than full strength, the Bulldogs are in awsome touch, and only built on their form with a masterful display of hard running, team work and even some party tricks to complete their day out.
Easterly blowing accross the ground should have made scoring difficult, but the willingness to work, run and link together saw the Bulldogs having shots at goal from close and in front. Very hard to find any passengers, as the Bulldogs hunted in packs and ruled the air. Eleven goals to one in the first quarter and the game was well over as a contest.
For three quarters, the speed and determination of Central Eyre was merciless, only giving way to a few more relaxed moments in the final quarter where snaps at goal were coming at all angles, and hence a few regular misses.
Kane Sampson, 8 goals, 8 behinds plus more than 8 score assists, AFL Dream Team points +200! A flick pass from the back of his foot at a contest set up a great goal on a day where Kane was at his brilliant best. Nathan Creaser in the middle, rocket like passes from the left, and also noticeably from the right foot, Jared Sampson, as always creative around the middle. Jake Bruce was tagged early, but shook those shackle to set up play and run over the lines, must be rated as one of Eyre Peninsula's best players at the moment.
Wade O Brien has forgotten that he is getting older, with dashes, bounces from the backlines well forward sugesting that he a years left at top level. Tom Freeth at Centre Half Back, Jack Sampson on the wing, Hayden Heath at half back, Clint Winter on the ball and forward, the whole side can be named and made substantial contributions.
The Roosters had a difficult day, but were still well served by higher profile players. Adam Haarsma, was strong at the contest and never gave in all day, Waydan Sumner's pace and ability to carry the ball, Adam Hurrell, Robert Pickett and Chad Fleming all played well. Young Lachlan Custance shows the promise of things to come.
A very long trip back to the coast for the Roosters, and they now face a must win at all costs game with the Bombers, who are equally yet to open their account.
The Bulldogs host Wudinna United, the derby game at Kyancutta next week.
