The Roosters kicked 20 goals, and lost!
A marvelous exhibition of Country Football, the Roosters and Maggies exchanged heavy blows all day, racking up a total of 39 goals in a highly entertaining fast paced game. The Magpies kicked the final two goals of the match in time on in the last to snatch what looked like an unlikely victory only five minutes earlier
Good players for both sides were very easy to find, and both coaches will be well pleased with the efforts of players.
Wudinna United coach Luke Nettle found his side down by 24 points at the half, and took care to shut the changeroom doors and windows before raising the finer points of where his charges were going wrong, and on a weekend commemorating the ANZAC tradition, calling for a much higher commitment. With their ears ringing, the third quarter Magpie response was immediate, reducing the margin to two points at lemon time.
Taking an early lead in the last quarter, the Magpies had control three goals up half way through the quarter, but four consectutive goals to the Roosters up until time on saw the pendulum completely swing prior to final minutes heroics by Neil Seaman sewing up the game with two late goals.
Elliston are close to a win, and went in without the services of mighty Tom Rumbelow, so look out for a quick change in their fortunes. For now, the premiers remain winless after three rounds.
