It’s an early top of the table clash this weekend as an inform Coolaroo host University at Gold Park.
Both sides have started the season well and along with Warwick are the only undefeated teams in the competition through 3 rounds. Coolaroo made a real statement to the league in their clash with the Bombers last week with a dominant 62 point victory.
What was most impressive about the 10 goal win was that Coolaroo’s defence kept the normally potent Bombers forward line goalless through the first half. Tom Rudolph once again led the way for the Roos booting 8 goals and with great delivery from Phil Dreise the Bombers had no answers or match ups for these 2 players.
University have quietly gone about their business over the first few rounds recording a tough opening win on the road against Goondiwindi and a comfortable win 2 weeks ago against newcomers Chinchilla. This week’s game should give debutant senior coach Shane Melrose a good indication of how his team tracking against the competitions front runners.
In other games the Bombers will be looking to bounce back to form as they hit the road to take on Chinchilla. Dalby host the Highfields Lions who have been unlucky to lose 2 games by less than 10 points in their opening 2 rounds this season.
The Lockyer Valley will look to continue their recent form against the Goondiwindi Hawks where they got the points in both encounters played last year. The South Burnett Saints hit the road to take on the Warwick Redbacks and the Tigers have the bye.
