Former Under 18 Crows premiership Captain Lachlan Dignan is today packing his bags and getting ready for the biggest game of his young footballing career.
Dignan has been named in the Brisbane Lions Reserves side which fly out today to Mackay to take on the Gold Coast Suns in the Anzac Day clash at Harrup Park. Lachlan is coming off a fantastic 2012 which saw him take out the League Best and Fairest (u18 Div 2 Central), Langfield Medal (Crows Best and Fairest), Premiership medallion and a Best on Ground performance in the Crows 10point Grand-Final victory.
"I'm just really excited to be called up, I love the opportunity when I'm given the chance," Dignan excitely told DarlingDowns.aflq.com.au.
Not only is this special because of the significance of the day but Lachlan will also line up beside Brisbane Lions club legend Simon Black.
"It's just a really great feeling getting the call up and getting to put on the jersey, but to play beside Simon Black makes it even more special,"Dignan said.
It was Brisbane Lions Academy Manager Luke Curran who gave the good news to Lachlan yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon.
"Luke (Curran) gave me the call up and I just cancelled all (of my) plans and accepted"
Lachlan has had a consistent start to the year for Morningside in the TIS Cup and is ready to mix it with elite players with the Lions and against the SUNS. Everyone can watch Lachlan, Simon Black and the Lions, SUNS in action as the game will be streamed live Lions Reserves V Suns Reserves - Anzac Day Clash.
