The Round 3 AFL Sydney Rising Star nominee is Callum Johnston of Manly-Warringah.
Callum Johnston is another of the young Wolves adjusting well to the rigours of Premier Division football in his first season in the competition. At age 17, Callum is still eligible for Under 18’s but his form through the preseason and early matches in the main competition make him a regular running through the middle for 1st grade.
Last season, Cal was awarded the Hart Medal for the best player in the Under 18 competition along with the Wolves Under 18 B&F and the clubs “Rookie of the Year” Award.
Callum’s attack on the ball, ferocity around the stoppages and speed around the ground make him a valued member of the Wolves midfield rotation.
In trying conditions on the weekend against Pennant Hills Cal took another big step in his football. Whilst playing on a saturated Mike Kenny Oval, Callum tack-led tirelessly and showed fantastic determination against the bigger Pennant Hills midfielders as the Wolves got their 3rd successive win to start the season.
