TRENT SLATTER | THE CHRONICLE | 22 APRIL 2013
COOLAROO has stunned last year's AFL Darling Downs grand finalists South Toowoomba with a 13.15 (93) to 4.7 (31) thrashing at Rockville Park.
The Roos looked every bit a premiership winner on Saturday as Tom Rudolph kicked eight goals to lead his team to an impressive victory.
But it was a horror day for the Bombers who were never really in the contest after a sluggish start.
Souths were kept scoreless in the first quarter and didn't boot a major until the second half.
In the weekend's other games, Highfields recorded their first win of the season with a 13.6 (84) to 9.5 (59) triumph over a spirited Lockyer Valley outfit.
The Demons trailed by just two goals at the final change but the Lions roared home to secure the vital premiership points.
Warwick continued their unbeaten run with a 20.9 (129) to 3.6 (24) win over Chinchilla.
The Redbacks kept Chinchilla goal-less after the first quarter, but the win was soured when Warwick utility Keiran Politch was injured late in the contest.
Politch's leg was caught under a pack of players and he suffered a triple break to his tibia and fibula.
The Toowoomba Tigers proved too strong for the youthful Dalby with a 14.12 (96) to 4.4 (28) victory.
And Goondiwindi came away from the biggest road trip in the league with a 19.19 (133) to 10.14 (74) win over South Burnett.
The Hawks spoiled South Burnett's first home game with a strong display of attacking footy led by player-coach Brenton Jardine with seven goals.
