UNSW-ES Stingrays player Remi Banuelos is the Round 1 Army AFL Sydney Womens Rising Star nominee.
Last Saturday Remi played her first ever game of AFL for the Stingrays in their Round 1 clash against Newtown. For some time she had been her brothers kicking and tackling partner at the local park and decided to give the game a go herself.
She has natural footy smarts, is a strong kick and takes a cracking overhead mark. Being nice and tall helps her game and although she's yet to fill out, she isn't afraid of hard body contact.
On her 18th birthday on Saturday, Remi kicked a goal and was among the best on the field in the Stingrays first win of the season.
Remi is definitely one to watch in the black and gold in 2013.
