The Round 2 AFL Sydney Rising Star nominee is Levi Sands of Western Suburbs.
A strapping 20 year old, Levi, who hails from Woolgoolga just north of Coffs Harbour, has become the Magpies “swing man” or Mr Fix it in 2013 being able to be thrown to whichever end the Magpies need him most.
Levi played all his junior football on the North Coast where he began playing rep footy from the age of 13 culminating with his selection in the Northern Heat teams in the State selection trials at Coffs Harbour in 2011. He played a number of the Rams early selection trials and was very close to selection.
2013 has seen Levi move to Sydney in an effort to continue to develop his footy and he still harbours a dream to play AFL footy. With the change in thinking at AFL recruitment level and a mindset that older more mature players are now able to live their dreams of playing at the highest level, even after missing the boat at draft age, Levi continues to work towards achieving his dream.
Levi has brought to Wests a hard edge with his uncompromising competiveness along with a very professional work ethic and preparation.
