The U14 Darling Downs Crows kicked off their 2013 season last Sunday with a hard fought 5 goal defeat by Redlands.
The Sharks used the ball with more efficiency in the first half and while the Crows showed glimpses of what they are capable of they went into the main break down by 30 points.
Fill in head coach Scott Matthews must have delivered an inspiring half time speech as the Crows came out firing in the third quarter reducing the deficit to 3 goals by the end of the third term. But Redlands responded well in the last quarter and ran out eventual 32 point victors 13.9.87 to 8.7.55
For the Crows new recruit Bradon Hess was exceptional up forward booting multiple goals and giving the Crows a great target in attack. Brendan Shelton was also at his damaging best with his run and carry through the midfield. This Sunday the Crows hit the road as they take on Wests juniors at 10:30am.
A big thankyou to Chris Sheath and his crew at Highfields AFC who volunteered their ground and support staff for the running of this game at late notice.
