The second annual Women’s University Cup was held on Sunday 7 April 2013 with Macquarie University hosting the event.
The first match saw Macquarie Uni Warriors take on UNSW-ES Stingrays. In an even contest, UNSW-ES managed to secure the win by just 6 points with the final scores of 19-13.
UTS Shamrocks and Sydney University Bombers played the second match with Sydney Uni taking the honours in a very convincing victory – setting the highest score of the day registering 75 points. Macquarie Uni then set about taking on Sydney Uni but the Bombers outfit maintained their strong form with a final score of 26-7.
The last defining round robin match was between UTS Shamrocks and UNSW-ES Stingrays which saw the UNSW-ES troops keeping UTS scoreless with 36-0 win.
The minor final between UTS and Macquarie Uni gave spectators a snapshot of the Division 2 competition. Macquarie Uni kept UTS scoreless in the final and took third place in the cup with a final score of 26–0. The Uni Cup Grand Final was played between the stronger Division 1 sides Sydney Uni and UNSW-ES. Going on earlier form, Sydney Uni went in strong favourites but it was the underdog who claimed the cup, strangling Sydney Uni and winning the grand final with a final score of 16-0.

The 2013 Uni Cup trophy was awarded to UNSW-ES in its second year following Sydney Uni’s victory in 2012.
The women’s teams now look ahead to Round 1 of the season proper which will commence on Saturday, April 13.
