The AFL Sydney Round 1 Rising Star nominee is Thomas Thurgarland of Manly-Warringah.
‘Tommy’ Thurgarland kicked off season 2013 with a best on ground performance in Round One for the Wolves in their maiden victory in Premier Division on Sunday. Thurgarland’s blistering pace and vertical leap were out on show as he amassed 38 touches, took 12 marks and kicked a goal off a wing at Henson Park.
Tommy is a testament to the junior development across the Northern Beaches area after coming up through the Wolves ranks. Following his runner-up Under 18's B&F in 2010 (from 8 games), Tommy became a regular Division One player under Leigh Brains side and took another step up over the weekend. After showcasing his talent for the Wolves, Tommy was rewarded with Swans Reserves games in 2012 and has brought the experience and work ethic required to play at that higher level back to the Wolves ranks and has flowed through into his performances for Manly.
Congratulations Thomas on your nomination!
