AFL NSW/ACT is pleased to announce the Army, through Defence Force Recruiting, has secured the naming rights partnership of the AFL Sydney women’s competition.
From 2013, the competition will be known as the Army AFL Sydney women’s competition.
The Army will also have naming rights to the Rising Star Awards for both leagues.
The Army’s core values of courage, initiative and teamwork tie in to the professionalism and dedication shown by all women footballers across the leagues.
Female football clubs will also have access to Army personnel for fitness, leadership and team-building activities.
AFL NSW/ACT Manager – Community Participation, James Ceely, stated that the partnership between AFL Sydney and the Army demonstrates how women’s football is growing within the state and territory:
"We now have over 3,063 females playing in dedicated women’s competitions within NSW and ACT," Ceely said.
"Partners like the Army are attracted to the great community environment that women’s football provides at the grass roots level."
The Army AFL Sydney women’s competitions will kick off on April 13.
