Season Preview - North Adelaide Women
The gist: The Rockets are hoping to go one better in 2013, after making it to the Grand Final last season. However, they will have to do so without star guard Lauren Mansfield.
The stat: Three of the Rockets’ four losses last season were to eventual premiers Norwood.
The star: Jo Hill averaged 17.5 points and 7.9 boards as a 39 year old last season. With Mansfield gone, she remains the best player on the team, although Jamie-Lee Peris (14.3 ppg, 9.9 rpg) has also got some game.
The x-factor: Kirsty Williams has shown flashes of potential. Now 23, is this her turn to shine?
The glass half-full: Jo Hill has not retired yet.
The glass half-empty: While many of their rivals have got stronger, the Rockets have got weaker. After last season’s success, expectations will be high, and they will be a team everyone wants to beat.
The verdict: This is still a quality roster and one capable of making finals, but with Sturt and West strengthening, there’s a chance the Rockets may be done and dusted by the end of the regular season.
Predicted finish: Outside the five
