VIDEO: Olympic Run Rings 'Round Strikers

Olympic FC have stunned cross-town rivals Brisbane Strikers with an impressive 7-2 victory at Perry Park on Saturday night in the second match of the National Premier Leagues double-header.

The top of the table clash delivered plenty of chances for both sides, however Olympic proved much more clinical in the final third – Tim Smit netting a hat-trick for the visitors.

Olympic snagged the lead inside five minutes courtesy of Striker’s captain Nick Robinson’s own goal; before Matt Thurtell restored parity for the hosts shortly after.

Strikers attempted to control the game, and enjoyed some quality possession, but Olympic proved deadly on the counter-attack to take an impressive 4-1 lead into the break.

The home side reverted to a back three in the second half as they sought to turn the tide, but Olympic wouldn’t be denied as Smits netted once again to secure his hat-trick.

A final surge proved too little too late for Strikers, Chay Hew’s goal offering no consolation after being immediately cancelled out by Olympic substitute Alex Panic prior to full time.
