Cai Progresses to VFL Umpires Development Squad
Southern Football League dual Division One Grand Final Field Umpire Cai Davies has been successful in obtaining a placement on the VFL Umpires Development Squad for season 2013. Cai started his career at South Metro Junior Football League, then successfully transferred into Senior grade football in the Southern Football League. Cai has developed his umpiring to a standard expected at VFL Development Squad Level by participating in AFL Victoria Umpiring Development programs over a number of years and by committing to the SFL Umpiring coaching program, where he has been coached by nationally accredited coaches. Top Female Umpire Gains Selection
SFL Field Umpire Libby Toovey has been selected to officiate in the AFL National Under 16 Youth Girl Championships being held in Shepparton from 5 to 11 May. Libby is currently part of AFL Victoria’s Female Umpiring Academy and will be umpiring with other Field Umpires from South Australia, Western Australia, Queensland and Northern Territory.
SFL Talented Umpires
A number of talented Southern Football League Field Umpires have been selected to umpire in the upcoming AFL Victoria Under 16 Metropolitan Carnival.
Sam Bridges, Annie Mirabile, Josh O’Donnell and Libby Toovey are all part of the SFL Umpiring Development Program, where umpires who show commitment to the SFL coaching program are given opportunity to progress their umpiring careers.
Promotion
Former SFL Field Umpire Tyler Hankinson has been promoted to the VFL Senior Squad for season 2013. Tyler, who umpired the SFL Division One Grand Final in 2008 and 2009, has been on the VFL Development Squad since 2010.
