The 2013 AFL season starts next month and the Auburn Tigers Women's team are ready for action.
With the team in pre-season training, assistant coach Lael Kassem said her greatest fear was "probably seeing a team member going down on the field during a game."
"We hope to improve our performance and see all the girls develop," she said.
Club media officer Widyan Alubudy said there were a lot of new footy boots taking to the field this year, with half of the team playing for the first time.
Describing the team as "perhaps one of the most diverse in this year's league", Ms Alubundy said 80 per cent of the players came from an Arabic speaking background and almost half wore a hijab, or head scarf.
A teacher at Holroyd High School, Paula Tohmeh loves that diversity within the team and said she was not afraid of the potential physicla nature of the game.
"I live in no fear. You live, you learn, you try and you experience," she said.
"I look forward to understanding the diverse backgrounds. It's a team that's so multicultural and yet so accepting and welcoming."
The Tigers lost their first trial game on Saturday but have another 'friendly' game on Saturday March 24 before the season gets underway officially on April 13.
