Tom is in the initial stages of his new role that will see him assist AFLQ staff in all talent programs for 2013 before he takes over the running and implementation of all DD talent programs for 2014+. The role is consistent with directive from AFLQ and is something that is being rolled out state wide.
Tom returned to the Downs in 2012 after a short stint in Brisbane and has jumped right back in where he left off. Tom has been appointed as a joint coach of the Darling Downs Lions Academy with Bert Cherry and was recently appointed as Talent Coordinator for the region.
“The Talent Coordinator role is very exciting and something that I’m honoured to even be considered for” Tom said on his recent appointment. Tom has an extensive background in AFL which includes and involvement with the Western Taipans programme as a junior player. With the Darling Downs pathway now linking directly with the Western Taipans representative program Tom is able to pass on great advice for Darling Downs Juniors as to what’s required to be successful here.
Tom also brings with him an extensive background in training and conditioning and is putting the final touches on a testing program that will revolutionise program feedback for junior players on the Downs.
We wish Tom all the best in his new role.
