The Newtown Breakaways have reappointed coach Peter Tennant for the second year running, in a decision that the club hopes will lead them towards finals footy again this season.
The club is confident that Tennant’s knowledge and experience will help refine the already established skills of returning players and offer the best support for the many new and promising members.
Enthusiastic about the reappointment, Tennant says the opportunity exists to challenge the playing group to build on the solid skills already demonstrated last season.
"The foundations of a playing style and structure that worked well at times last year sometimes lacked consistency, so from that perspective, I guess you could say there’s some unfinished business," says Tennant.
This highly motivated and infectious coach says there was no hesitation when taking on the position for another year.
"I see it as a chance to stay involved in a sport that I have played all my life and am very passionate about. It is a great means of imparting knowledge and experience in an environment of very eager learners and to play a part in developing the game of both individuals and a team, along with the Women’s League as a whole."
Tennant says the Newtown Breakaway’s success in the 2013 season will be, "defined by the level of fitness and skills base consistency that can be achieved across all of the 18 on-ground positions combined with the depth of our interchange."
With a full preseason’s worth of endurance training behind them, the upcoming season is looking promising for the Breakaways.
