Club Umpires required

In 2013 the AFL Sydney competitions will continue the use of Club umpires in the Men’s Divisions 3, 4, 5 and Under 18’s Division 2 as well as Womens Divisions 1 and 2. 　

AFL Sydney By-Laws state that unless two accredited umpires are provided each participating club is required to provide a registered club umpire.

The attached document outlines what a person must complete in order to be a Registered Club Umpire in 2013. Requirements for this year are dependant on the person’s previous experiences as a club umpire.

AFL Sydney clubs are encouraged to identify a few people to be registered as club umpires and club umpire during the year. Through having a regular club umpire, they will grow in confidence and become more consistent in the application of the laws of the game. Over the last few years there have been changes in some rules and interpretations and therefore it is important that all club umpires are up to date with the current interpretations.

There will now be two seminars conducted by Graham Glassford and will cover basic umpiring skills and also AFL Sydney requirements. The dates for these are -

Date: Sunday 24^th March 2013

Venue: North Sydney Oval Function Centre

Time: 10am to 1 pm

Date: Wednesday 27^th March 2013

Venue: Blacktown International Sportspark

Time: 6:30pm to 9:30pm

Those intending to attend a session are to register by sending an e-mail to kirsty.garrard@aflnswact.com.au at least five (5) days before the date of the course.

As mentioned in the attached flowchart, there are two components which all Club Umpires are required to complete that can be accessed online before or after the seminar –

Once this is completed, all club umpires need to ensure that they print the certificate and keep a copy – this will also need to be handed in to AFL Sydney. This course is free to complete online.

Please note these are likely to be the only two courses run during the year.
