2013 Nationals: Masters Day 1 Overview

Bruce Pulman Park pulled out a cracker of a late Summer's day to herald the beginning of the 2013 National Masters Touch Championship.

Surprise-packets Waikato started strongly in the Over 30/35 Men's Grade, winning their three matches including a tight battle against the more fancied North Harbour.

Canterbury and North Harbour started strongest in the Over 30/35 Women's Grade and have set-up an interesting encounter on Day 2 at 10.50am.

The shadow of the mighty Auckland team has cast its usual shadow over the Over 40 Men's Grade but local boys Counties Manukau have also performed well, winning two and drawing with Otago.

The Over 50 Men's has so far been dominated by Counties Manukau; North Harbour are also in the hunt and the two played out an exciting 3-1 match to close off Day 1.
