Wonthaggi United Soccer Club’s 2013 season is upon us.  Already, the Women’s team, Under 19 boys and Under 16 boys have commenced training; with all other teams due to start on Tuesday March 5.  That will follow the club’s Registration Day that will run on Sunday March 3 at Wonthaggi Secondary College’s Dudley Campus grounds.  The day is sure to be a great one; with registrants and their families being able to enjoy a BBQ along with a kick around and chat with their coaches.  Some training drills and a friendly match will likely follow.

The club is going from strength to strength since it was incorporated in 2005 by a keen core group of locals who saw that the “World Game” had a place in Wonthaggi.  That group has been proven absolutely correct, with a rapid growth resulting in at least eight full teams running onto the pitch this year.  Last year, the U13 team repeated it’s 2011 success by again becoming league champions.  With the enthusiasm for soccer within the town, the excellent coaches available to the club and the determined committee that ensures a friendly cohesive club; there is a big chance that similar and further success awaits the club this year.

Wonthaggi United (The “Wolves”) plays in the South Gippsland Soccer League, which is a pilot league of the Gippsland Soccer League (GSL). The club is incorporated and plays under the rules and guidelines of the Football Federation Victoria (FFV). The club is open to all men, women, girls and boys from five years upwards.  It provides opportunities for all members to develop their skills whilst participating in a friendly, fun and safe environment.  The club’s vision is "More people playing soccer everyday"; hence members of every age and every ability are embraced.

Training sessions early in the season are held at Wonthaggi Secondary College’s Dudley Campus on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30, until the Wolves home ground at McMahon’s Reserve becomes available late in March.  Matches are on Sundays at McMahons Reserve and all around the South Gippsland region.
