HIGHFIELDS LIONS AFL CLUB | MONDAY 4 FEBRUARY 2013
The Highfields Lions are looking for a new senior coach for 2013 after Drew Dale resigned on Friday citing "pressing business and family commitments".
The club remains positive about the season ahead despite having a vacany in the head coach position only weeks out from the start of the season.
"While it isnt ideal to be looking to fill the head coach position at this stage of the season we are still confident 2013 will be a competitive year for the Lions seniors. Our pre season training is well underway and we have a strong assistant coaching structure that is functioning well and remains fully operational despite Dale's resignation" said club Secretary Hugh Stone on Monday.
The Lions first entered the senior competition in 2010 and although the seniors are yet to play finals footy they are confident that will change in coming years.
"We are fortunate in that our junior numbers are growing every year, our seniors are constantly improving and we are a family club that all our members enjoy being a part of. We have a plan we are working to that aims to ensure we have the systems and structures in place to harness the growth in the community and cement Highfields Lions as a highly competitive club across all grades in the Darling Downs league." said Stone.
The Highfields Lions sign on day for 2013 is on the 16th February at Kratzke oval from 11am - 3pm and will have five Brisbane Lions players, including Simon Black, in attendance. The club invites the whole community to come down and meet the players and enjoy the festivities that will include activities and autograph signing with the Brisbane Lions as well as a jumping castle, face painting, fairy floss and a coffee machine.
