SEAN Tasker took on some of the top full-forwards Australian Rules football has ever produced and now he is tackling a new position at Toowoomba Grammar School.
Tasker played 48 AFL games for the Adelaide Crows from 1991-96 and, as predominately a defender, had the task of marking the likes of legendary full-forwards Gary Ablett Snr and Tony Lockett.
He then embarked on a teaching career in Adelaide and has this month taken up the role of director of sports and activities at Grammar.
Tasker had no ties with Toowoomba before taking up the position but was keen to relocate to the Garden City in a bid to further his career.
He thinks his time as a professional athlete helps with his school role and is no stranger to big tasks.
"I played on Gary Ablett Snr in one game. Tony Lockett kicked 10 goals on me in one game," he said.
Tasker is focused on his role at Grammar and had not thought about getting involved with the sport in Toowoomba, although he expects his three sons to play.
"I've come to Toowoomba for this role but my three boys enjoy the sport," he said.
And while he enjoys all sports, Tasker knows he has a little bit to learn about the finer points of one of the school's pre-eminent sports - rugby union
