SECOND ROUND OF NSW SPORT & RECREATION GRANTS NOW OPEN
NSW Minister for Sport and Recreation, Graham Annesley, today reminded sporting organisations across the state that applications for funding grants to help build sporting facilities and boost participation rates are now being accepted.
“Sporting clubs, community groups and local councils can now apply for grants under the Participation and Facility Program until 26 February 2013,” Mr Annesley said.
“This is an excellent opportunity to apply for additional funding to upgrade existing facilities or attract new participants,” Mr Annesley added.
Under the Participation and Facility Program, applications are invited for:
-
Participation projects – which deliver a sport or physical activity participation experience to an identified group of people; and
-
Facility development projects – building new or upgrading existing sport and recreation facilities.
“The grants can provide up to 50 percent of the net project cost – with the value of voluntary labour and donated materials from the community able to be included as part of the applicant organisation’s contribution,” Mr Annesley said.
“Participation in sport and recreation brings communities closer together, as well as offering many physical and social benefits for those involved.
“The NSW Government is committed to investing in local and regional sport to promote healthy, active communities,” Mr Annesley concluded.
Applications close on 26 February 2013. For more information and to apply, please visit the website at www.dsr.nsw.gov.au/grants or phone 13 13 02.
