Holroyd-Parramatta Goannas have taken steps to confirming their coaching roster for this upcoming season.
Shane “Jorgo” Jorgensen has been reappointed as Senior Coach through to the end of the 2014 season.
The club were pleased to confirm Jorgensen’s re-signing on the club’s website.
“This is a great for the Club as there is little doubt that Jorgo is one of the best coaches in Sydney football and we are very fortunate to have him,” the club said.
“He is of the belief that we are genuine contenders for the Division 1 Premiership this year and with the majority of our players returning, along with some of the quality recruits we have picked up, we expect to be up there.”
Luke Mainsbridge will join Jorgensen on the sidelines as an Assistant Coach after retiring at the end of last season.
The club are also buoyed by enlisting Tony Cocks as their new Under 18 coach.
Cocks has been prominent in Sydney football since the 1980’s. Originally, a player with the old Newtown Club he joined the Goannas in 1990 as Fitness Coach. In that year, the club won the Sydney Football League Premiership (now known as Premier League). Following on from his time with the Goannas he was Fitness Coach with the Sydney Swans for two years. In more recent times he has been involved in Junior Coaching with the Goannas Juniors taking the Under 16’s to a Premiership in 2011.
Last year’s Division Four coach, Mark Wearne leaves the Goannas for a senior coaching opportunity.
