The Highfields Lions finished sixth in the 2012 Allied Pickfords Cup DDAFL competition but the club's new coach Andrew Dale wants the senior team in the final four in the expanded 11-team competition in the new season.
Dale, who played AFL for the Melbourne Demons in the 1980's said he wanted to develop a footy culture that would result in the 'A' Grade side winning a grand final.
"Highfields is so new and growing rapidly and the opportunities for the club in the Darling Downs competition are enormous,' he said.
Andrew Dale has a background in the military, joining the Air Force at a younger age, but a decade ago moved to Brisbane for work and found himself in the Army, joining an Enoggera battalion where he was the battalion sports officer and a physical trainer.
Andrew was also the physical trainer and an AFL coach for the base competition, inter services and combined services competitions.
Dale is originally from Tasmania and did a term back on the island as coach of a couple of island as coach of a few Tasmania AFL clubs there. Andrew finished playing at the age of 38.
Highfields finished the 2012 season with 6 wins 9 losses at a percentage of 96.99% and three games short of a finals appearance...can new coach Andrew Dale help the Lions roar?
