Following its recent promotion to Premier Division, the Wolves have moved quickly with the signing of Leigh Brain as Senior Coach for a further two years, securing him until at least the end of the 2014 season.
The appointment is another important step forward for the Wolves, according to Club President Russell Clack.
“Leigh has been a big part of our recent success and we felt that with the move to Premier Division, continuity was especially important for our club,” he said.
“So we’re very pleased to have Leigh committing for the longer term.”
Leigh is particularly well regarded and very well connected in the Sydney and broader AFL community but also has a strong connection with the Manly Wolves, having played with the club though the 1990s.
“Leigh is definitely an important part of the fabric of our club”, said Director of Football Richard Wharton.
“His enthusiasm for the driving the club forward, and his efforts in developing younger talent certainly puts us in great shape for the future.
There’s still a lot of upside with such a young squad, that’s what’s exciting for our club.”
Off the back of a successful first year, Brain has the 2013 program well underway.
“Next year will be big for us,” Brain said.
“We’re confident we’ll be competitive, but we also understand that will take some time to succeed in the Premier Division, so we’re planning for that.
"We’re under no illusions about the challenge ahead of us and that is exactly what this playing group has been looking forward to”.
