During the evening, they announced the Adelaide University Men’s Team of the Century which included: James Lawrence Allen, William Douglas Allen, David Cowham, Ross Fitzgerald, Ross Haslam, Robin Hill – GK, Mike Johnston – GK, Steve Marshall, Robin Mitchell, Nick Pannell, Geoff Pitt, Jagdev Singh, Thanwant Singh, Trevor Smith – Captain, Terry Smith, Roger Smith

According to Dr Mitchell who was part of the Team of the Century, “I understand there were 6 Australian National representatives in the side and most (or all) of the centenary team would have represented the South Australian State Senior Men’s team.”
He said Max Weir managed 3 Adelaide University teams that toured Fiji in the late 60’s and 70’s. Coach – Bob Haigh – Captain of the Australian Hockey Team and was coach of the Fiji National Men’s Hockey team in 1980.
“There were 3 overseas players – the only one I know was Thanwant Singh from Malaysia who stayed on in Australia after finishing his medical degree. He had retired by the time I arrived in Australia.”
The surprise presentation was organised by Bob Claxton the Secretary and Treasurer of Oceania Hockey.
