The EDJBA is honoured to have Bill Rewell, from the Ivanhoe Knight’s Basketball Club, as a Life Member of the EDJBA.

The Member Clubs in attendance at the 2012 AGM gave overwhelming support for the nomination.

David Hickman (the EDJBA’s first life member) presented Bill with his Life Membership Plaque and stated the following about Bill:

“Bill Rewell became involved in the Ivanhoe Knights in the 1980s when his two sons started playing. He soon became an active contributor to the Club, taking on the considerable responsibility of being venue supervisor from 1990. Bill has also been a coach, committee member and selector in his faithful and long term service to the Club. One of the senior Club members described him as an “absolute gem”.

About 2000 Bill joined the EDJBA committee. Since then he has undertaken a variety of tasks, principally the ones requiring attention to detail and a lot of work without much publicity. These tasks have included handling tribunal reports and investigations and registrar for the girls’ teams. Bill has also been assistant fixtures officer and still assists on fixture day as one of the EDJBA organisers and monitors. More recently Bill has assisted with the revision of by laws.

Bill is widely respected for his impartiality and his integrity in the performance of his tasks and his participation in committee deliberations. The EDJBA is fortunate to have had such a wise and helpful contributor for over a decade. Thank you Bill for your service which has facilitated the enjoyable participation of thousands in junior basketball.” 

Bill is in wonderful company as a Life Member and the EDJBA values the continued support Bill has shown over the past 30 years and is continuing to show.
