Here is what you thought were highlights of the 2012 AFL Sydney season.
- Winning the premiership in Premier Division and breaking even financially as a club (we had a $3k loss, but have stock for 2013 that will offset this). This was done from a passionate, yet small base of volunteers managing a club of 250+ footballers.
-Seeing players develop in all grades.
-First season in Sydney. New teams, new venues, making finals, good vibe around club.
-Campbelltown beating Sydney Hills Eagles at Purser
-Watching the run over the final 6 weeks of the season into the finals by the young St George Dragons + Swans' whole season.
-Back to back Premiers and undefeated 2012 by Manly. Average winning margin of 100+ points
-Playing my first game of first grade for Balmain. Big step up.
-My U18 team winning the Premiership
-I am far too old to play, but to participate as a goal umpire with my son also involved was a great thrill. To have the honour of goal umpiring the Division 5 Grand Final was great - a really close and exciting game.
-Nine different premiers
-Making a return to div5 after 20 years for the RAMS.
-Making the Grand Final in our first year in the Sydney comp.
-Playing my first season, Swans GF Win!
-Getting involved in the Campbelltown Football Club and several of our young
-Prem Div players playing in UWS Giants
-Kicking my first goal in senior footy
-The girls team really starting to step up and make a name for themselves. Liz Fassone's selection in TOTY and Ash Grey's rookie of the year nomination. The remarkable commitment of the u18s to turn their season.
-Jon Shineberg.
-Personally, playing footy after thinking I couldn't again. From a club perspective, fielding an 18s again, and a competitive unit. And all 3 grades making finals. Well done all at HQ, great work.
-Camden both grades making finals for first time!
-Under 18s standard picking up
-Seeing the emergence of an expanded competition with the likes of Blacktown and Gosford fielding sides in the AFL Sydney competition. At the same time, the performance of Manly-Warringah Wolves in Division 1 throughout the whole course of the season should warrant them to be allowed entry into the Premier Division for next season.
-To receive the club person of the year award at the club presentation night.
