David Lawson (pictured) has been appointed to the position as Manager – AFL Sydney.
David joins AFL Sydney full-time after working as an independent consultant charged with the development of the Health Check of Community Football in Greater Sydney.
As a result of this health check, David is writing a strategic plan outlining the future direction of community football over the next four years.
In this role, David has the primary responsibility of implementing this plan and leading Community Junior & Senior Football in Greater Sydney and working closely in the planning and implementation of an Independent Schools competition in 2013.
The operational heads of the Greater Sydney Juniors (Bob Robinson) and AFL Sydney (Matthew Graham) competitions will now report to David.
"It is an exciting time for Australian Football in Sydney, and across NSW and the ACT," Lawson said.
"It appears an appropriate time to implement a plan for AFL Sydney, covering Junior and Senior club and Independent Sydney Schools Football competitions.
"I am really looking forward to working with the Football Operations team, and the range of stakeholders involved in AFL in Sydney."
Prior to working with AFL NSW/ACT at the start of this year as a consultant, David was the General Manager of Game Development with Cricket NSW for nine years.
