Anthony Robertson took out the 2012 Marston Medal as 140 guests recently celebrated another successful season for the Manly Wolves at the historic St Patrick’s Estate on Manly’s North Head.
It was a fitting finale for a great season where the Under 18s were Grand Finalists and the Division 1 squad completed the perfect season as undefeated Premiers. Club President, Russell Clack was able to unfurl the new Premiership banner on the evening thanks to its timely delivery halfway through the night.
Club Founder Harry Marston was there to present the Club Best & Fairest to Robertson who polled 48 votes to take out his second medal, after winning it in 2010. Club Captain Tyrone Armitage was Runner Up with 33 votes and David Stroud with 30. Other Division 1 award winners were first year players David Kovacevic and Harrison Koch.
In Division 2, the Leigh Adams Medal was won by Walter Koch in his first year of senior football. Dom Humphries was Runner Up in his first year for the club, while Andrew Pilat was presented with the Coach’s award. In Division 4, with head coach Phil ‘Wombat’ Horrell unavailable, Assistant Coach Flynn Pettersson stepped up and presented himself with the Best & Fairest for 2012. This is the second Best & Fairest award for Flynn in recent years. First year player Courtney Dober was Runner-Up, while Andrew Comerford won the Coach’s award.
The Under 18s, the Best & Fairest went to Calum Johnson who was a clear winner from Runner Up Matt Bell and Paul Fabbro who won the Coach’s award.
In other Club awards, Cal Johnston was awarded the Rookie of the Year and Ben Joseph was awarded the Craig Bradley Award for his outstanding commitment to the club in a number of roles throughout the year, including coaching with the 18’s. The Club Person of the year award was presented to Scott Pettersson.
