This year’s TVFC 5-A-Side Tournament was played under blue skies and upon a lush and green surface.  What a difference 12 months can make.  To make the day perfect, for the first time in 5 years there wasn’t a drop of rain to be found.

This year’s tournament was in a word, superb.  With some twenty teams competing and many people supporting from the sidelines, the event had a carnival like atmosphere and the standard of play was most impressive.  The GSL referees officiated and ensured the tournament ran smoothly.  Teams came from as far away as Bairnsdale and Leongatha and all enjoyed the excellent conditions and strong competition.

At the end of the round robin stage of the tournament, the top four teams in each division played off in the semi-finals.  Both Trafalgar and Monash were well represented during the final stage of the tournament.  The final results were as follows:

Men’s Final:                     The Turkeys 4 def Flaming Dragons 2

Women’s Final:              Churchill 1 def Pinkies 0

Intermediate Final:         Monash 3 def Multi Scores 1

TVFC would like to thank the numerous teams who travelled from all over Gippsland to partake in the event.  Without team entries the event cannot be a success and the increased participation at this year’s tournament was very encouraging for the event  organisers.    

TVFC would also like to thank Olympians, Newborough and Churchill for the lend of their Samba goals on the day.  Finally, the club would like to thanks its loyal volunteers who continue to deliver a quality carnival which improves with every year.  TVFC hopes to build upon the success of the 2012 tournament.
