AFL NSW/ACT are pleased to announce that Matthew Graham (pictured) has been appointed to the position of Football Operations Manager – AFL Sydney, effective immediately.
Matt takes over from long-serving Football Operations Manager, Garry Burkinshaw.
Matt began with AFL NSW/ACT early this year in the role of Football Operations Coordinator, before moving to his current position of the Community Football Manager position within the Sydney/Illawarra Regional team.
“Taking on the Football Operations role for AFL Sydney is an opportunity that I am really excited about,” Graham said.
“Significant growth and progress in recent years sees AFL Sydney in excellent shape and provides me with a great platform to continue the rise of AFL in the Sydney sporting landscape. “
Matt is well suited to his new role given his roles within our organization and his experience within the Sydney club system as a player, administrator and volunteer.
He believes it is an exciting time to be involved in this capacity.
“With the AFL Sydney Health Check now completed and a Strategic Plan to be implemented in the coming seasons it is a very exciting time to be involved with football in Sydney,” Graham said.
“The challenge to continue to grow and improve the AFL community by building close relationships with all clubs and stakeholders is one I am very much looking forward to.”
As noted in the previous article regarding the Sydney Review, Matt will report to the Manager – AFL Sydney, once appointed.
