McDonald’s Toowoomba Region Restaurants have teamed up with AFL Darling Downs Juniors to help support local clubs and encourage children of all ages to participate in AFL.
Under the new sponsorship agreement McDonald’s Toowoomba Region Restaurants will provide assistance with club participation programs and the annual School Holiday Super Camp.
The U16 competition will become known as the U16 McDonald’s Cup, while the Under 14 and Under 12 competitions will become known as the McDonald’s Shield and McDonald’s Trophy respectively.
Keith Webb, AFL Queensland Development Manager – Darling Downs said that the new partnership highlighted the strong growth of AFL in the Darling Downs region.
“AFL Darling Downs Juniors competitions have grown significantly in 2012 and we have seen a thirteen percent increase in player numbers,” said Webb.
“That growth looks set to continue in 2013 with the likely expansion of two new clubs in Chinchilla and the South Burnett region.
“Our partnership with McDonald’s Toowoomba Region Restaurants will assist us in supporting local clubs as they expand with new players, new teams and new programs designed to make AFL accessible across all ages and abilities.”
“McDonald’s has a strong history of supporting junior football and we are thrilled to have them as a partner.”
