The process for developing a new joint league strategic plan began back in March when around 20 club, council, AFLQ & league representatives sat down for a 6 hour brainstorming session.
The brainstorming was broken down into 4 categories:
- The People Behind the Game
- Competition Development & Recruitment
- Promotion
- Facilities
From there a number of current marks where compared to a 2016 goal and methods to get there were brainstormed. A draft plan was developed and sent to the clubs for feedback, before arriving on the final document.
The plan intends to allow all clubs, members, players, volunteers and stakeholders in our game to plan ahead and make some real inroads towards making AFL the number one sport on the Downs into the future.
Some of the targets may seem ambitous and reaching them will require some work, however if all clubs adopt a similar approach and unite under a common goal it will certainly be exciting times ahead for AFL on the Downs.
To view the plan, as well as a yearly workplan for each year, go to Inside DD > AFLDD/J Strategic Plan and select the relevant plan, or download it from the link below.
Any questions regarding strategic planning can be directed to the league Vice Presidents.
