Latrobe Valley soccer squads reunion
A reunion will be held this Sunday October 7th for all players and supporters of the former Latrobe Valley soccer squads that represented the region between 1953 and 2003.
Local soccer identities Jan Huizer and Gerry Clarke are excited about the day and the opportunity to reminisce with old team mates and supporters.
“The Valley squads were very successful over the years and hundred of local people played for and supported the teams over that time (1953-2003)”.Huizer said.
Those interested in attending are asked to bring along old photos and newspaper articles.
“There will also be a slide show of photos from down the years which will be a highlight.” Huizer added
“It’s a great opportunity to get together and reminisce about old stories on and off the pitch – like the time Leo Sammut and his wife got married on our (1999) trip to Mildura.”
The day will be hosted by the Churchill United Soccer Club commencing at midday with food and refreshments available to purchase before finishing at 6pm.
